Dr. Marius Lambert
TREASURER
I am Marius, a 27-year-old Belgian with a passion for adventure, sustainability, and sailing. I have always wanted to explore the world with my friends in a fast and sustainable way, and for me, sailing is the only mode of transportation that fits that description. My love for sailing began at the age of five when I started sailing on an optimist, despite my fear of the ocean and inability to swim. I studied Bioscience Engineering, have a Masters in Climatology, and in 2022, I completed my PhD in biogeoscience modelling. My studies have only reinforced my commitment to environmental conservation. I love challenges, and I'm sure this journey will offer plenty of them.

Antoine Breitenstein
VICE-CHAIR
I am a young man of 27 years old who currently works as a project manager for a Belgian pharmaceutical company specialized in vaccine development and cancer therapies. Before joining my current company, I worked as a PhD student in an academic project related to the conversion of microalgae into biofuels. My passion for sustainable and renewable energy sources led me to explore the potential of microalgae in bioenergy production.
The combination of project management and sustainable energy expertise would be a significant asset for a sailing journey around the world. I am looking forward to effectively plan and experience this adventure, while also using my knowledge to develop innovative solutions that could make a positive impact on the environment.

Taletta Eie
CHAIR
I am Taletta, a 25-year-old Norwegian. Growing up surrounded by sailors and fishermen in the coastal city of Stavanger, I have always been fascinated by the vastness of the ocean and the adventures it offers. With degrees in nursing and public health science, I am passionate about promoting healthy and active lifestyles. After completing my studies, I finally decided to take a leap of faith and pursue my lifelong dream of sailing away with friends.
As an adventurer at heart, I'm excited to combine my love for the ocean with my passion for promoting sustainable and eco-friendly practices. Embarking on this journey with my friends on our new boat, Luma, named after my grandfather's old fishing vessel, is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Origins of the project
Our project idea was born out of Marius's long-standing desire to take a sabbatical year to travel, a dream he had postponed several times in the past. While pursuing his PhD studies in Norway, he met Taletta, who shared his aspiration of sailing around the world. Recognizing this as the perfect opportunity to fulfill his travel aspirations, Marius and Taletta studied sailing, gained the necessary licenses, and even sailed on Taletta's parents' boat to gain practical experience.
In the summer of 2022, they found the perfect vessel to embark on their adventure - a beautiful and sturdy Runn 37 sailboat. When it came to relocating the boat from Oslo to Stavanger, Antoine, a friend from Belgium, eagerly offered his assistance in navigating the 400 nautical mile journey. Antoine proved to be a valuable asset during the trip, demonstrating his worth during storms and night-shifts.
As the boat was moved to Stavanger, Marius, Taletta, and Antoine decided to join forces for their one-year project. With a fully-prepared boat and a skilled crew, they are now ready to embark on their transatlantic journey, anticipating an exciting year of adventure ahead.
